There was a genuine feeling of another dream coming true. It was a very enjoyable sensation of baring my feet to the Wall. Taking the first step was a heartbeat, a sign of life, and it was full. Feeling the very existence of a historical wall, I held a deep breath. The rush for running was gone. A hush fell over a sea of autumn colors. There weren’t many tourists, but surprisingly more foreigners than Chinese. The peaceful atmosphere of civilization was a painting I could touch. A sense of holiness overwhelmed me. I sidled across really slowly. This was a moment I was experiencing, tasting and enjoying, in the knowledge that each exhalation of breath and each step resembled no other, and every single change I made was history.
